Some Party members reject Mahinda

Another group of Provincial Councilors and local government members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party vehemently rejected former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Ministerial candidate for the forthcoming parliamentary election.

This group of Provincial Councillors and local government members made this objection after a group headed by Wimal, Vasu, Gammanpila, Dinesh and the Chief Minister of Western Provincial Council Prasanna Ranatunga continue a campaign demanding to name former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the prime ministerial candidate of the UPFA.

But some leaders of SLFP said, the SLFP has not decided to name a person before the general election is announced. One group had asked Mr. Rajapaksa to be named as the prime ministerial candidate while some others do not like him.

According to SLFP leaders, upcoming generation of politicians reject not only Mahinda, but also all Rajapaksas.
