Girl power Inter-School cycle race today at Independence Square

The wait is almost over, after months of anticipation the first leg of the Girl Power Inter-School Old Girls Sports Meet flags off on Sunday March 1, 2015, at Independence Square, when 'Old Girls' from Holy Family Convent, Ladies', Methodist, Musaeus Colleges, St Paul's Milagiriya and Visakha Vidyalaya compete in the first-ever Girl Power Inter-School Cycle Race.

The Girl Power Inter School Cycle Race is an open event where 12 riders from each school will compete against each other to vie for a trophy.

The race will be flagged off at 3.30 p.m. on Independence Avenue by Sujeewa Senasinghe, Deputy Minister of Justice. The route for the race is Independence Avenue, Maitland Place, and Maitland Crescent.

Winners of this competition will carry forward their points, which will contribute to the final tally of the Girl Power Invitational Inter-School Old Girls Sports Meet held at the Sports Ministry Grounds on March 8th.

Young and old girls of above schools are invited to the Independence Square today (March 1) to witness history in the making and cheer on the teams and participate in their school parade.
