Musaeus schoolgirl Ruwini Kannangara and Vidyartha's Krishan Wickremaratne... :

Most outstanding players at All-Island Open Ranking TT Championships

Musaeus College school girl Ruwini Kannangara and Vidyartha College's Krishan Wickremaratne clinched doubles to win the most outstanding players award for girls and boys at the All-island Open Ranking Table Tennis Championship organised by the Western Province Table Tennis Association and worked off at Bandula Gunewardane Indoor Stadium of Lumbini College, Colombo last week.

Seventeen year-old Ruwini Kannangara - a former Junior National Champion was in good form, winning the girls under 18 singles title winning over highly talented Hansani Piumila of Visakha Vidyalaya and also the girls under 21 singles. She also went up to quarter - finals in the Open Women event.

Krishan Wickremaratne won boys under 21 singles event and also the boys under 21 singles event by margin of 3-0 which was a one way traffic for him in the absence of Udaya Ranasinghe.

The open event for Men was won by Rohan Sirisena and for Women by Erandi Warusawitharna

Under 10 Girls Single: Bimandee Bandara (Sussex College Kegalle) beat Dilini Thesanya (Prajapathi BMV Ambalangoda) 3-2, 5/11, 11/9, 11/2, 4/11, 11/9.

Under 10 Boys Singles: Senura Silva (Ananda College) beat Hasindu Rodrigo(Dharmaraja College) 3-1, 8/11, 11/6, 12/10, 11/9.

Under 12 Girl Singles: Nadithi Rehansa (Prajapathi BMV) beat Ayla Chitty (Ladies College, Colombo) 3-2, 13/11, 4/11, 12/10, 8/11, 11/8.

Under 12 Boys Singles: Henura Warusawitharne (Dharmasoka College) beat Thisan Ranchagoda (Royal College) 3-2, 11/8, 7/11, 5/11, 13/11,11/7.

Under 15 Girl Singles: Hansani Piumila Kapugeekiyana (Visakha Vidyalaya) beat Imasha de Silva (Dharmasoka College) 3-1, 11/9,11/3, 6/11, 11/3.

Under 15 Boys Singles: Disanka Tennakoon (Dharmaraja College) beat Helitha Handawitharne (Royal College) 3-0, 14/12, 11/7, 11/5.

Under 18 Girls Singles: Ruwini Kannangara (Musaeus College) beat Hansani Piumila Kapugeekiyana (Visakha Vidyalaya 3-2 11/4, 6/11, 6/11, 12/10, 11/7.

Under 18 Boys Singles: Krishan Wickremaratne (Vidyartha College) beat Prasad de Silva (Vidyartha College) 3-0 11/7, 11/7, 11/5.

Under 21 Girls Singles: Ruwini Kannangara (Musaeus College) beat Dewmini Weerasena (Museaus College) 3-1 11/6, 12/10, 10/12, 11/6.

Under 21 Boys Singles: Krishan Wickremaratne (Vidyartha College) beat Thilisa Wijesiri (Vidyartha College) 3-0 11/8, 11/10, 11/5.

Open Women Singles: Erandi Warusawitharne (Dharmasoka College) beat Ishara Madurangi (Sri Lanka Air Force) 4-0 11/6, 11/5. 11/6, 11/8.

Open Mens Singles: Rohan Sirisena (Stag TT Academy) beat Dinesh Deshapriya (Sri Lanka Navy ) 4-2 9/11, 11/7, 18/15, 11/7, 11/4, 11/9.

Most Outstanding Player: Boys 'Mens Category: Krishan Wickremaratne (Vidyartha College)

The President of the Western Province Table Tennis Association Roshan Maddumage was the Chief guest and he distributed the awards.
