Mobitel offers Twitter sans data charges

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel has partnered with Twitter, one of the largest social networking sites in the world, to give customers the use of Twitter free for the duration of the ongoing cricketing action.

The partnership will provide customers a platform to follow the excitement of the world tournament, one Tweet at a time.

Mobitel customers will receive access to the popular social media platform by visiting twitter.com for the duration of the event without incurring any data charges.

A unique aspect of the service which will be available until the end of this month is that customers who don't possess a Twitter account can also experience the Cricket Timeline which includes scores and commentary by directly accessing twitter.

Users can access Twitter's cricket updates during the season by searching for the appropriate hashtag on the current tournament on the Twitter app on Android or iOS and via mobile web.

Customers can also access this timeline by accessing individual match hashtags.
