Protest fast called off

The hunger strike staged in Jaffna by the President of the Movement
for War Affected People (MWAP) V. Sagadevan to coincide with Indian
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit yesterday was called off following
the hunger-striker’s admission to hospital, according to report from
Jaffna.
Sagadevan started the hunger strike on Thursday, opposite the Jaffna
Public Library to bring to the attention of the visiting Indian PM the
issues relating to India’s housing program, a solution to the Tamils’
problems, release of political prisoners and information on details of
disappeared persons, the reports said.
The condition of the hunger-striker is reported to be stable. |
