Modi in Jaffna:

Protest fast called off

The hunger strike staged in Jaffna by the President of the Movement for War Affected People (MWAP) V. Sagadevan to coincide with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit yesterday was called off following the hunger-striker’s admission to hospital, according to report from Jaffna.

Sagadevan started the hunger strike on Thursday, opposite the Jaffna Public Library to bring to the attention of the visiting Indian PM the issues relating to India’s housing program, a solution to the Tamils’ problems, release of political prisoners and information on details of disappeared persons, the reports said.

The condition of the hunger-striker is reported to be stable.
