'Daily News' staffer to speak on 'Singlish'
Deputy Editor of 'Daily News' and former Editor of 'Asian Mirror'
Rasika Jayakody will be the guest speaker at "Singlish', one of the CSA
Good Start Series, a CSR effort by the newest international school in
Colombo, the Colombo School of Arts on March 18 at the School Auditorium
at Jawatte Road, Colombo 5. Entrance to the one-hour session is free and
is open to teenagers.
Malay women's food fiesta on March 21.
The Pasar Malam Food Fiesta and Hawker Street organised by the Sri
Lanka Malay Association Women's Affairs Committee will be held on
Saturday, March 21 from 4.00 pm at the Malay Cricket Grounds (Padang
Complex) off Kew Road ,Colombo 2.
The proceeds of the event will be in aid of charitable activities
associated with the institution.
Sri Lanka's art expo in Canada
Internationally reputed painter and sculptor, Tilake Abeysinghe will
hold an exhibition of paintings at the Monte Carlo Inn, Woodbine Av.,
Markham, Canada on Saturday, March 21 from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
Hearing impairment: Appeals for funds
Five-year-old girl Punethmi Janodya of 1/1A, Bandarawatta,
Deraniyagala is suffering from hearing impairment from birth and
receiving treatment from the Lady Ridgeway Children's Hospital. Dr.
A.D.K.N. Yasawardhana has recommended a hearing-aide which will cost
around Rs. 2,37,500. Her mother is unable to raise the
money and appeals to the generous public for help.
Her mother H.G.D. Priyadharshani has opened a bank A/c No.
306200178387601 at the Maharagama People's Bank and the father R.P.S.
Samantha, an A/c No. 1-0115-01-373669 at the National Savings Bank at

Baby due for Open Heart surgery
Six-month-old baby girl Januli Pahanya Ratnayake of 127/3, 1st Lane,
Mulana, Hungama has to undergo Tetralogy of Fallots - open Heart Surgery
as advised by Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Kanchana Singappuli.
The surgery could be performed at the Lanka Hospital which is expected
to cost around Rs. 750,000.
The mother of the patient appeals for help from the generous public
and contributions may be credited to A/c No. 032-2-003-4-0022743 of the
People's Bank, Uyanwatte, Matara.
Appeals for kidney
Forty-eight-year old T.K.C. De Silva is suffering from a chronic
kidney disease and now at end stage renal failure. He is on regular
twice a week haemodialysis at the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital,
which should be continued until he undergoes kidney transplant.
His blood group is A+ and is in need of a kidney of any blood group
for transplantation by Resident Nephrologist, Dr. Chinthana Galahitiyawa.
