IGP Illangakoon opens new Police Grounds in Kandy today

The people of Kandy are great fans of sports and from the schools sector sports is promoted among all students and according to records most of the outstanding players represent both National and Local at the highest levels. But unfortunately sportsman and sportswomen lack proper facilities.

Today Sunday, the new sports pavilion will be opened by the IGP N.K. Illangakoon at 2 PM, a very big hand should go to all the top Police Officers past and present who were in Kandy, all were sports lovers they gave a big hand for this ground and also helped most of the schools. Dharmaraja College, Kingswood College, Vidyartha College St .Sylvester's College, St. Paul's College now Sri Sumangala to do all their sports, specially cricket, Football, Hockey and Athletics. All these schools and the girls schools had their Sports meet in good old days at this grounds.
