Chinese biz delegates meet SLCBC members
A six-member delegation representing China Pacific Economic
Cooperation CEO Forum, met the committee members of the Sri Lanka-China
Business Council (SLCBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce at its
premises recently.
The delegates were from Beijing, Shenzhen, Fujian, Ningxia and
Zhejiang. The main objective of their visit was to learn about the
business environment and the potential for setting up joint ventures in
Sri Lanka.
The delegates were mainly involved in construction, engineering,
heavy machinery, agriculture, shipping, printing, leather, automobiles,
communication, health care, garments and tea sector. President, Sri
Lanka-China Business Council, Navinda Abeysekera invited the delegates
to invest in Sri Lanka and assured that the Sri Lanka-China Business
Council will assist them to identify reliable business partners.
Executive Director, Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, Mrs. Renuka
Weerakone outlined the benefits and assistance the Board of Investment
could extend to Chinese investors to set up their manufacturing
facilities.
The leader of the delegation, Prof. David Shen, invited the Sri
Lanka-China Business Council to attend the 'Silk Road Expo' due to be
held in May to become more familiar with Xi'an City.
The Business Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding for future
cooperation with the China Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO Forum. |
