Post-mortem report due tomorrow:

Death of Udayanga's translator

The post-mortem report of the man who died allegedly under suspicious circumstances nine months ago while working as a translator and private secretary to Sri Lanka's former Ambassador in Moscow Udayanga Weeratunga is due tomorrow, Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said.

The body of Kaluaarachchige Noel Ranaweera (36) was exhumed at the Welikadamulla cemetery, Nittambuwa in the presence of Judicial Medical Officer, Ragama Dr. G.W. Wijegunawardena and Attanagalle Acting Magistrate S. Abeygunawardena on Thursday. ASP Gunasekera said the body which was exhumed following a complaint by the mother of the deceased, is now lying at the Ragama hospital mortuary. She had complained that her son could have been a victim of foul play.

Ranaweera was believed to have been recruited by Weeratunga initially to work at his restaurant in Ukraine and later posted to work at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Russia. The relatives said that there were discrepancies in the death certificate and his sudden death followed his visit to Sri Lanka where he had told relatives that he was involved in some business involving 'big money'.
