Carbon nanotubes inventor here
Prof. Sumio Iijima, well known as the inventor of carbon nanotubes is
in Sri Lanka. The Japanese scientist was able to created a novel
interest in the nanotechnology field fuelling it with numerous
researches followed by his scientific paper published in 1991.
For this and other work Sumio Iijima was awarded, together with
another American Chemist, the Kavli Prize for nanoscience in 2008.
Prof. Iijima is in Sri Lanka to attend the second Biennial
International Symposium on Polymer Science and Technology organised by
the University of Sri Jayawardanepura.
