Street Cultural Protest Against Racism
Films on the sidewalk, street music and drama will be part of a
unique 'street protest cum cultural festival' tomorrow morning in
Colombo. A group of radical artistes plan the event, themed Veediyé
Kathikaavatha (Street Discourses), to "creatively counter" the
Inter-ethnic hostilities that have been aroused in the country in recent
years.
The 'action' starts on the street in front of the Colombo Fort
Railway station at 3 pm tomorrow and will include a provocative street
drama, sidewalk short film shows, streetside art displays and pop music.
The performances and shows will be on the theme 'Inter-ethnic harmony
and countering hate speech and ethnically hostile social attitudes'
organised by (Street Protest) group of artistes which is organising the
event.
Various rights activists and political leaders are expected to join
in. |
