President Maithripala Srisena on a visit to the East and the North Central Province on Saturday paricipated in the Easter Sunday festivities organized by the Lanka Deva Sabha at the Batticaloa Hindu College grounds, where he was blessed and draped a shawl by Chairman, Fr. Roy Isen. In Anuradhapura he offered the first harvest of rice to the Sri Maha Bodhi Pix: Sudath Malaweera and Kithsiri Wanasinghe

Gender insensitive: A demonstration and a procession was held in front of ITAK office in Jaffna by a group of women to protest against ITAK leaders for their alleged derogatory comments about Northern women, especially war widows in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu. Organised by the Kokavil Women's Organisation, the protesters burned effigies of TNA parliamentarians Mavai Senathirajah and R.Sampanthan.
