Sarath Jayamanne, Additional Solicitor General, had his early
education at Dumbara Maha Vidyalaya, Teldeniya and later at St.
Anthony's College, Kandy.

He was a visiting lecturer at the Law College, Faculty of Law,
University of Colombo.
He was awarded Britain's prestigious Chevenin Scholarship in 2001 and
received his Masters Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the
University of Oxford in 2002. He was one of 11 candidates selected from
around the world to follow this course in Oxford.
Sarath Jayamanne also has a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science from
the University of Sri Jayawardenapura. He obtained a Diploma in Forensic
Medicine and Science from the University of Colombo. His forensic
science expertise has immensely helped him in successful prosecutions in
the country.
He has a diploma in International Relations and has followed the
International Human Rights Law Certificate course at the International
Institute of Human Rights at Strasbourg, France.
During his 26 years as a prosecutor, Sarath handled many high profile
criminal cases in Sri Lanka. He was successfully involved in the
prosecutions of prominent criminal cases such as the Kobeigane beauty
queen murder, well-known ruggerite, Tony Martin's murder case, the
assassination of High Court Judge, Sarath Ambepitiya. the Hokandara
multiple murder case, Embilipitiya student's disappearance case which
attracted the attention of the International Human Rights community and
the assassination of MP Nalanda Ellawela |
