Licence for coaches



The cricket coaches who gave the classes in cricket to the boys

Coaching Education Unit attached to the Sri Lanka Cricket conducted a Refresher Course to Level I Cricket Coaches of the Central Province to Issue Cricket Licences and the purpose of issuing Licence was to recognize them to the School authorities.

65 Coaches from Schools of Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya and Kegalle attended this 2 day programme over the week-end at Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium.

This project was initiated by Heshan de Mel and Assisted by Chamila Gamage and Dilip Samarasekera of Sri Lanka Cricket Education Unit.

Coaches were shown Video programmes in batting, bowling (spin & pace) fielding and wicket keeping and allowed them to prepare for a test. The test was held immediately after the lectures and those who were successful were issued with Coaching Licence by the Sri Lanka Cricket Association.

Heshan de Mel told the correspondent that this type of programs were already held in Gampaha attended by 70 coaches, Colombo North by 65 coaches, and North Province by another 65 coaches.

He further said that this type of programs will be held in Western Outer Province and Galle District in the near future.
