CCC workshop on certification of sustainable agriculture
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) with the Friend of the Earth
Organisation will conduct a workshop titled 'Friend of the Earth:
International Certification of Sustainable Agriculture and Farming' on
May 11 at 2 pm at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce auditorium, Colombo 2.
Friend of the Earth, an organisation in Milan, Italy with a field
office in Sri Lanka, is a non-profit project for the certification of
products from sustainable agriculture and farming worldwide.
Following the positive experience of the Friend of the Sea
certification for sustainable fisheries and aquaculture in which 17
fishing companies have already been certified in Sri Lanka and over 400
fisheries in 50 other countries, Friend of the Earth is rapidly growing
as the leading international eco label for sustainable agriculture
production.
In 2015, Friend of the Earth and Friend of the Sea will be actively
promoting certified sustainable companies, among others, at the
Universal Expo 2015 Milan (Tutto Food inaugural event in May) and at
Anuga (Cologne, Germany) premiere World Food Fair in October.
The organisation will organise a powerful and exclusive
business-to-business event for certified fisheries products only, in
Bangkok, Thailand, in November.
The workshop will introduce Friend of the Sea (FoS) and Friend of the
Earth (FoE) certification programs for sustainable fisheries and
sustainable agriculture. FoS and FoE to provide the Sri Lankan companies
a top market level visibility through their presence, expertise and
global recognition.
Founder and Director of Friend of the Earth, Dr. Paolo Bray, will
conduct the workshop, to introduce to Sri Lankan organisations the
Friend of the Earth global standards and outline how export-oriented Sri
Lankan companies can achieve the certification of sustainable
agriculture, and fisheries for its products and meet the growing demand
of big international buyers for products certified by Friend of the
Earth and Friend of the Sea.
The presentations will also include SGS audit process for Friend of
the Earth with testimonials from the representative sectors of
fisheries, rice and milk and yoghurt. |
