Australia beat New Zealand in final

T he fairy tale of the 2015 Cricket World Cup has come to an end with Australia dominating the final at the MCG.Australia comfortably won the game by 7 wickets in front of a record 94,000 people. It is now the fifth time the Australian team have won the tournament.

New Zealand batted first and were in trouble early with Brendon McCullum getting out for a duck in the opening over. From there the Black caps struggled and could only manage a total of 183.

Grant Elliot was the star batsman with his score of 83.In reply, despite losing an early wicket, Australia were in control and still had 20 overs to go when they passed New Zealand’s total.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Zayn Malik quits One Direction

After five years, singer Zayn Malik has announced that he is leaving One Direction.Zayn says he is quitting the boy band because he wants to live a normal life out of the spotlight. He has released a statement to his fans apologising to anyone he may have let down by his decision but has explained that he must follow his heart.The four remaining members of the One Direction, Harry, Louis, Niall and Liam will continue as a group of 4 and are looking forward to their upcoming world tour. They too have released a statement as a band saying that they will miss Zayn incredibly but they respect his decision and wish him well.

 

 

 

 

 


Stolen wallet returned after 35 years

35 years ago a thief broke into a seaside caravan and stole 10 year old John Steele’s wallet. Now 45, John has had his wallet returned thanks to some investigating by a friendly Facebooker.The wallet contained a £1 note and a school photo of John which he had written his name and childhood address on the back of in case the wallet was ever lost.The wallet was found by workers who were installing a kitchen extension in a house near the caravan park.

After finding the wallet in the wall which used to be part of a local pub, the builders gave the wallet to the house owner, Shelley Davies.Shelley then went on to find John through Facebook, using the name and address found on the back of the picture. John was amazed when Shelley told him she had found his wallet and he said “it is nice to know there are still good people around.”The wallet has great sentimental value to John and he is very pleased to have it back – and the £1 note was still there!
