Faster and seamless clearance
The Government is committed to bring in all authorities engaged in
import and export clearance to operate within a single window to
facilitate faster and seamless clearance of cargo, Finance Minister Ravi
Karunanayake told a workshop on ‘Driving business growth through
competitive supply chains’.
It was organised by SLFFA Cargo Services Ltd (SLFFACSL) last week in
Colombo.
The Minister while extending his fullest support for the regulatory
reforms, called upon the authorities not to violate the system.
He also commended SLFFACSL for organising the workshop by bringing
all stakeholders together to challenge and resolve issues of the
industry and make Sri Lanka a competitive place for cargo operations.
Supply chain consultant (Moderator), Diren Hallock said it was a
landmark occasion for SLFFACSL to bring all stakeholders under one roof
to understand the challenges and how everyone should cooperate
seamlessly as a group to solve issues. Facilitator of the workshop and
Supply Chain Consultant Gayani de Alwis said the supply chain and
logistics can make a major contribution to business growth in an
organisation and added that investments in the sector will pay
dividends.
SLFFACSL, a consortium of public unlisted companies comprising mostly
leading freight forwarders, hopes to conduct similar programs in the
future.
SLFFACSL was set up in 1994. |
