ICA Congress 2017 in India
The three-day International Coloured Gemstone Association Congress (ICA
Congress 2015) ended in Colombo recently.
Sri Lanka has showcased its tremendous potential in organising,
conducting and hosting an event of this magnitude, President, ICA,
Benjamin Hackman said.
"By far this is the most attended conference in ICA history. Sri
Lanka's leading position as a source for a range of gemstones made it an
appropriate setting for the biennial event.
The next Congress will be held in India in 2017 and there will be a
common website dedicated to congress news linking all the participating
countries," he said.
This is the second instance that Sri Lanka hosted the ICA Congress
after a lapse of 26 years. Over 300 officials attended this year's
congress which will help develop the local jewellery industry and make
Sri Lanka a gemstone and jewellery centre. This will also supplement the
country's efforts to generate US $ one billion in export revenue within
the next two years. |
