National Business Excellence Summit
The National Business Excellence Summit organised by the National
Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka will be held from June 5-6 at the BMICH.
It will have separate Team Excellence competitions on the same days.
There will be presentations of Quality Circles (QC), Continuous
Improvement Teams (CIT), Cross Functional Teams (CFT) and other forms of
teams, Quality Circles at non-executive level in manufacturing and
service industries and Quality and Continuous Improvement, other teams
in manufacturing and service industries.
Quality Circles (QC) are volunteer teams from organisations which are
guided bya scientific techniques such as cause and effect diagrams,
Pareto charts and formulate solutions.
Originating in Japan in 1960s, the concept of Quality Circles is
widespread in many parts of the world and is said to improve worker
morale in addition to solving problems related to quality, productivity,
customer service and safety.
QC and CIT follow the philosophy that the talents of every employee
should be tapped and that there is a lot of creativity at every level
that can be made use of.
Continuous Improvement Teams (CIT) and Cross Functional Teams (CFT)
follow the same methodology but consist of executive level employees and
event managers.
Companies could also submit quality and productivity slogans, posters
and Kaizen projects for the competition. There will also be events for
schools which include debates, quiz programs and quality circle
presentations. |
