Dear children,

Many of you would have read about the heat wave which hit neighbour India, where more than a thousand people lost their lives. People had to remain indoors for days on end to avoid the intense heat.

Even in Sri Lanka, I am sure, many of you would have felt really warm but fortunately for us it was not as hot as in India. However intermittent showers are now experienced throughout the island while some areas had heavy rainfall and many tanks reaching spill level.
