An up and coming tennis player , nine year old, D.A.Venuka Kithula who hails from Maliyadeva College ,Kurunegala is looking forward for a good future in his favourite sport.

Venuka Kithula

Training under the guidance of former tennis star Ganendran Subramanium in his academy the youngster hasshown great promise as a future star. Venuka while studying atMaliyadeva , Kurunegala comes down to Colombo fopr training . Withtennis being his number one game , Vidula has been winning most of the junior tournaments .

Ganendran who himself has represented the country at tennis believes that grass root level coaching is the key to success. He is in the coaching process of some very talented youngsters namely Nadal Saranapala (7 years), Chiren Gamlath ( 7years), Luvya Seelanatha ( 7 years), and many young emergingplayers.

The coach Subramanium has played in the Junior Wimbledon , and a Davis Cup player as well. He is very selective of the age groups that he recruits for coaching. No one over 18 years will be enrolled to his academy, as he believes that coaching youngsters is a long term process. He doesn't want to take the credit by coaching a player over 18 years who has probably had his previous coaching under the guidance of some other coach.
