'Meya Thuwakkuwak Nowe' at Lionel Wendt

Two special shows of 'Meya Thuwakkuwak Nowe' winner of best play, best direction and 7 other awards at the State Theater Festival 2015, will be staged at the Lionel Wendt Theatre, Colombo at 3.30 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. today (21). The play is written and directed by Chamila Priyanka and has Mayura Kanchana, Dhilum Bhuddika, Anjana Premarathne, Yashodha Rasadhuni, Pramodh Edirisinghe and Kanishka Fernando in the performers line up, with stage set design by K.V.D. Amarathunga. Lakshani Amarathunga and Bianca Hansini, stage management by Chamara Ghamathige, Sameera Wimalasiri, Isuru Kashyapa, Kumudu Wickramathanthrige, make up by Palitha Abeylal and stage lighting by Hiran Abesekera and Lahiru Rathnayake. 'Meya Thuwakkuwak Nowe' is being organised by Jude Srimal. Tickets are available only at Lionel Wendt Theater (All seats have been box planned)

 


'Kema Lasthi' in Negombo

'Kema Lasthi' the newest political comedy, written and directed by Ajith Mendis, will be staged at Negombo Newstead Girl's College Theatre, at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m. today (21).

Cast - Sriyantha Mendis, Madini Malwattege, Janaka Kumbukage, Wasantha Wittachchi, Saman Hemarathne, Keerthi K. Ratnayake, Pradeep Arugama, Samantha Paranaliyanage. Music composition, sound management, set design and stage management - Sarath Kulanga, Chandana Nishantha Pieris, Luvoline Wandawall and Sameera Hettiarachchi. Costume design - Kamalkanthi Bogoda. Make-up - Wasantha Wittachchi. Lighting effects - Mihidu Madhushanka

'Kema Lasthi' is produced and organized by Jude Srimal.Tickets available at Negombo Minal Digital Colour Lab and Theatre Gate.

 


Peter & The Wolf at Bishops

Deanna School of Dancing will stage 'Peter & The Wolf' at the Bishops College Auditorium, Colombo 2, at 7.30 p.m. on June 23 and 24 Choreographed by Natasha & Natalie Jayasuriya, the story revolves around Peter who lives with his grumpy grandfather in a small cottage on the edge of a vast forest in Russia, where wolves roam free. It is a story about how Peter escapes into the forest in the middle of the night to have fun with his friends and how he captures a big, bad wolf.

Tickets for the show will be on sale from Friday, 5th, June, 2015 at the Deanna School of Dancing, 30/63H Longden Place, Colombo 7.


'Maranaya Nomile' at Punchi Theatre

The debut direction of Susanga Kahandawalaarachchi, 'Maranaya Nomile', (Death for Free), will be staged on Jul 18 and 19, at Namel Malini Punchi Theatre, Borella. 'Maranaya Nomil'e is a Sinhala adaptation of the Indian play 'Reflection' by Marathi director, Mahesh Elkunvichar. Kahandawalaarachchi has been in the theatre field for more than two decades. Produced by Indika Samarawickrama, the adaptation was done by Satyapala Galketiya. Cast includes Susanga Kahandawalaarachchi, Wasantha Vittachchi, Kumudu Kumarasinghe and Oshadee Gunasekara. Music was composed by Prabhath Ekanayake and make up by Wasantha Vittachchi. Lighting and Set Design by Nimal Bulathsinghala. Sounds Operator, Chandana Nishantha.
