Young Soloists' Concert
Violinists Sulara Nanayakkara and Nilupul Silva will be the Young
Soloists featured by the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lank at the Concert
on Sunday, July 5, at the Ladies College Hall. The conductor is
Dushyanthi Perera. The program for the evening will include:-

A former pupil of Lal Perera and Lakshman Joseph de Saram, Sulara
Nanayakkara, now under the tutelage of Ananda Dabare, has won many
awards in his youth and is now an Associate and a Licentiate of the
Trinity College at Music, London, in Violin Performance. He has
participated in master classes conducted by International luminaries.
He was the youngest Violinist to perform under the renowned Sri
Lankan maestro Kala Keerthi Dr. Premasiri Khemadasa and was the
violinist in many recordings of his music for TV dramas, films and for
his opera Agni.
Nilupul Silvam a multi - talented musician at the age of four msat
for her first Trinity College London and emerged an all island prize
winner. From then on, she was a regular prize winner for piano under the
guidance of Shirani Weerakkody and now holds an Associate Diploma for
Piano Solo from the Trinity College of Music London.
Violin was her second instrument and according to her, she has a
passion for it.
Her teacher was Ananda Dabare and she was fortunate to win many
prizes and trophies for artistry. Now as a member of the Symphony
Orchestra, she plays first violin for the orchestra. |
