Group 1984 to felicitate champion Royal team

Royal College rugby team, which emerged the undisputed league champions of the 2015 inter-school season, will be felicitated by the Royal College Group 1984 at a special felicitation dinner to be held at Cinnamon Lakeside today.

Members of the Royal team, along with Principal Upali Gunasekera, coaches and other officials are expected to attend the function organized by Royal 1984 Group under the patronage of Vice President / Sales of Nestle Lanka PLC.

Royal, led by centre three quarter Bhanuka Gamage, remained unbeaten this season, winning all their matches, including the prestigious Bradby Shield. Having secured a one-point lead in the first leg, Royal thrashed Trinity by an all-time record margin of 49-0 in the second leg to regain the Bradby Shield after four years.

The vice-captain of the team is dynamic flanker Keshan Peiris, son of former Royal Stubbs Shield boxer and President of the Amateur Boxing Association of Sri Lanka Aubrey Peiris, who is also an active member of the Royal 1984 Group.
