Janashakthi to empower Grade 5 students
Janashakthi Insurance will empower students through the 'Future of
Our Children' program, targeted at those sitting the Grade five
scholarship examination. Every year, approximately 300,000 students sit
this examination, according to the Ministry of Education.
Janashakthi will conduct a series of free seminars in Kurunegala and
Gampaha on August 9 and 16. These areas were selected since research by
the Ministry of Education has shown that the highest number of students
sitting the examination are from these areas.
The seminar will feature well-known lecturer Baratha Lanka who will
provide vital tips to help the children perform well at the examination.
Past papers and probable questions will also be provided to the
students. Students who attend the seminar and score high marks at the
final scholarship examination will receive a scholarship courtesy
Janashakthi Insurance.
The entry criteria is based on requests sent in by students via the
coupon.
"Janashakthi has consistently worked to empower talented youth,
particularly through its flagship sponsorship program for rural
athletes. It is our duty to contribute to the country by helping to
produce talented children who could one day join the workforce," said
General Manager - Life, Sales and Operations, Janashakthi Insurance,
Hashra Weerawardena.
Parents of students attending the program will also get a chance to
attend a session designed specially for them.
"The Grade five scholarship examination is a key event for many young
students and the cause of much anxiety. Janashakthi aims at relieving
this by providing students the tools they need to perform well at the
examination. The session will contain topics on handling stress and also
on structuring a child's future with tips on how to invest wisely," said
