Trinity boy is youngest at weightlifting Nationals

Sixteen year old Bevishan Wijewickrema, a student of Trinity College,
Kandy will be the youngest contestant at the National Weightlifting
Championships to be held at the Sports Ministry Weight Lifting Centre,
Torrington Square, Colombo on August 11 and 12.
Bevishan won a Commonwealth championship Bronze Medal last year in
Malaysia.
Apart from him Chinthana Vithanage (Navy) former Gold Medallist at
the Commonwealth Games, Neil Perera (Air Force) Shanaka Peters (Air
Force) and Indika Dissanayake (Navy) are the other outstanding
Weightlifters expected to participate.
Among the women Weightlifters, Dhammika Harischandra (Air Force) who
is holding 19 Sri Lanka records along with L.G. Vinodhini Dharmasena
(Air Force) D.C. Priyanthi (Navy) and Harshani Gomes (Wadduwa
Weightlifting Club) are a few outstanding women set to participate.
According to national Weightlifting coach R.B. Wickremasinghe a few
Sri Lanka records are expected to be created at the meet. |
