K Line's car carrier:
M/V Helios Highway calls at Hambantota Port
'K' Line's car carrier, MV Helios Highway with a load of vehicles
from Japan made its maiden call at the Mahagam Ruhunupura Mahinda
Rajapaksa (MRMRP) Port in Hambantota recently. A plaque ceremony was
held on board the vessel to mark the occasion. The General Manager of
the Port, Norman Weeraratne and the Master of the vessel Capt. Rosen
Georgiev were present.

ABC Shipping (Pvt) Limited are the local agents for the vessel.
Chief Manager, Marketing and Business Development, Sri Lanka Ports
Authority (SLPA), Upul Jayathissa said that that the SLPA was pleased to
welcome K Line's new ship to the Port of Hambantota and expected that
more K Line PCC's would call at the MRMRP soon.
"K Line handles car and container carriers with reputed, helpful and
experienced staff. I thank the Chairman of ABC Shipping, John Shiran
Dissanayake for bringing K Line ships to the ports of Sri Lanka," he
said.
Chairman, ABC Shipping, Dissanayake said apart from the pure car
carriers, 'K' Line had already placed an order for five more 14,000 TEU
vessels at Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd which is due to be delivered in
2018.
"Our ULCV (Ultra Large Container Vessel) fleet, with the latest
energy-saving technology, will become 10 units. The vessels will be the
flagships of 'K' Line Containership business with which 'K' Line shall
continue to deliver a quality service to customers," he added. Managing
Director, ABC Shipping, Wasantha Talagala said that 'K' Line had been
endeavouring to reinforce its car carrier fleet with in-depth
consideration to environmental preservation in particular, and to handle
complete cars entirely damage-free at all times during loading and
discharging operations and during ocean navigation.
