Almar Teas celebrates 10th anniversary

Almar Teas (Pvt) Ltd., celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Kingsbury Hotel recently.

Chairperson, Almar Group, the holding company, Mrs. Avurasee Weerasinghe, Co-Managing Directors Amanda Weerasinghe and Asanga Weerasinghe, Director Achinda Weerasinghe and CEO, Almar Teas Malinda Jayawardena, senior management, staff and those who contributed to the success of the company over the years were also present.

Employees who have been with the company from the inception were felicitated.

Managing Director Amanda Weerasinghe said the company won the trust of the world market because it maintained the finest quality and standard of teas over the past decade.

"Never in our history have we received complaints regarding the quality of our products. I believe that we achieved rapid growth because we always maintained quality. Our 'Aura' brand has established itself in the world tea market," he said.

Weerasinghe said that coinciding with the 10th anniversary, the company hopes to expand into the local market. "We have already introduced 'Helakahata' to the local market and I believe we will win the hearts of consumers in the local market just the way we won customers in the world market."

CEO, Almar Teas, Milinda Jayawardena said that the company which was launched in 2005 with eight employees was among the top 20 tea exporters in Sri Lanka by 2014. The company survived the world economic recession and has grown rapidly making the right decisions.

"I joined Almar Teas in 2009 and became the CEO in 2013," he added.

"Our next target is to be among the top 10 tea exporters in Sri Lanka by the end of this year," said Jayawardena, "I thank our Managing Director, Amanda Weerasinghe and staff for their immense and constant support given."

Almar Teas (Pvt) Ltd. exports quality tea to over 30 countries including the Mediterranean, Gulf, Russia, Middle Asia, North America, Far East Asia, Europe and Scandinavia.
