and sale of quilts
The Hill Country Women’s Association(HCWA) will hold Kaleidoscope Two
at the Colombo Art Gallery on Saturday September 5, from 10 a.m. to
6p.m.
Dr. Maithri Wickremesinghe will be the Chief Guest at the event.
Over a 100 quilts will be showcased.The exhibition and sale is held
to raise funds to support HCWA service projects in the hill country.
The HCWA is founded by Mallika Thiagarajah whose passion is
quilt-making.
The quilts on display at the exhibition are all made by her.
Quilt magazines will also be sold, while several stalls selling
sewing items, lacework, table linen, women and children’s clothing
items, fashion jewellery and chocolates will be on sale.
The HCWA was founded 12 years ago, to serve women and children from
the hill country to supplement their basic education. General and
maternity health clinics are periodically organized, while the artistic
talent of school children are also encouraged. Disaster relief too is
provided when the need arises.
An ambulance, an ultrasonic machine, and intra ocular lenses have so
far been donated to the needy.
Tickets for the exhibition will be available at the door.
