New SL Ambassador to Vietnam presents credentials
The new Sri Lankan Ambassador meeting with Vietnam President

Ms. Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake presented her credentials as
ambassador of Sri Lanka to Vietnam to President of Vietnam, Truong Tan
Sang, on August 20, 2015 at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi.
Ambassador Dissanayake was received at the Palace by a guard of
honour. The Ambassador briefed President Sang on the recently concluded
general elections, Sri Lanka's foreign policy and the current status of
bilateral relations and recalled the two State visits by heads of State
of the two countries in the recent past.
During the discussions, it was noted that the two countries had
entered into over 25 Agreements/Memoranda of Understanding in various
fields such as defence, public security, trade and investment,
agriculture, fisheries and banking and finance and Ambassador
Dissanayake expressed her intention to elevate bilateral relations by
working towards the implementation of the Agreements/ Memoranda of
Understanding between the two countries.
Soon after arriving in Viet nam, Ms. Dissanayake also met Deputy
Prime Minister, Pham Binh Minh, and Foreign Minister of Viet Nam.
Ambassador Dissanayake is a career diplomat with over 19 years
service, having served in Sri Lankan embassies in Tokyo, Stockholm and
Rome and as the Consul General for Sri Lanka in Shanghai. |
