President chief guest at UNP Anniversary
President Maithripala Sirisena will be the Chief Guest at the ruling
United National Party's 69th Anniversary, being celebrated at the party
headquarters 'Sirikotha' in Pitakotte, today (September 6). According to
event organizers, the President's participation in the party event,
signals a new political culture that reflects consensus building. The
anniversary program is scheduled to start at 9.30 a.m. and continue for
several hours. The main event will be at 'Sirikotha', Media Minister
Gayantha Karunathilake said.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, newly appointed ministers and
parliamentarians, leaders and deputy leaders, organizers from
electorates of the United National Party and a large number of party
members are expected to attend the event, Minister Karunathilake said.
