SLC to upgrade gyms at four venues

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is to upgrade gym facilities at four major venues in the country.

The venues are at the R Premadasa Stadium, P Sara Oval, Galle and Kandy.

In a statement SLC said the gyms were in keeping with its Vision 15/15 of the Interim Committee to allow it to further develop its Performance Environment for national players.

"This project will also give rural players opportunities to use the facilities at zonal and district level in strength and conditioning in order to develop their ability to the highest level", SLC said in a statement.

Most rural cricketers have no recourse to state-of-the-art gyms in the country and SLC hopes their new venture will help overcome the fluctuating fitness levels of players which has been a worrying factor even where the Sri Lanka team members are concerned.
