New State and Deputy Ministers

Nineteen State Ministers and 21 Deputy Ministers were sworn in before President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat last week, completing the first step of the national consensus government aimed at creating a new political culture. The 22nd Deputy was sworn in later.

All Deputy and State Ministers took a pledge collectively to protect the Constitution of the country before being sworn in before the President. Seven out of 19 State Ministers were appointed from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party while the rest was appointed from the United National Party.
