SLC blocks media from covering minister's visit
Sri Lanka Cricket, usually one of the most media savvy institutions
in the country, took an unusual step to block photographers and
reporters from covering Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera's maiden
visit to its offices on Friday despite extending an invitation to the
media.
The episode was a contrast to the minister's ensuing visit to the
Football Federation headquarters where media personnel were able to
follow his every move and record all his remarks.
Photographers and reporters who were present at Sri Lanka Cricket
headquarters at their invitation were blocked on two fronts, first when
Jayasekera met interim committee officials at a formal session and later
when he discussed issues with employees. Sri Lanka Cricket chairman
Sidat Wettimuny is currently out of the country. |
