Police athletes bag Government Services title

The All Island Government Services Athletic Championship was held in Kandy for the first time contested by 1250 women and 1750 men from State departments. The two-day meet was held on September 4 and 5 at the Bogambara Stadium under the patronage of H.M.V. Hitisekera, the Government Agent, Kandy district Secretary and the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The president of the Government Service Sports Association Dervin Perera was also present on this occasion.

W.K.P.B. Seneviratne, Secretary of the Athletic Association was the organising Secretary of one of the most successful events held in Kandy this year.

He was supported by many other officials like H.G. Ariyaratne,G.R Dhanapala, Kamal Gamlath, A.A.Jayatissa and Vijeyananda Perera. The team Championship was won by Police and the following teams secured the first five places.
