Lawyers charging 'earring fee' probed

The case of two female lawyers who took a pair of earrings from a female client recently is being investigated by the disciplinary panels of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL).

According to Rajindh Perera Assistant Secretary of the BASL said investigations are continuing and if the duo are found guilty, the report will be submitted to the Ethical Committee of the Supreme Court. The female lawyers were severely warned by High Court Judge ,Gihan Pilapititya for their action.

"The public can make complaints on such malpractices either to the Supreme Court addressed to the Chief Justice or the BASL. Disciplinary panels of the BASL to investigate into these cases," Perera added.
