Record-breaking roller coaster
Ohio's Cedar Point amusement park is set to open the Valravn Birdseye
roller coaster which will break 10 world records. Scheduled to open in
2016, the Valravn Birdseye will be the tallest, fastest and longest dive
coaster. Cedar Point amusement park has released a mock experience of
what it will be like to ride the Valravn and it certainly isn't a ride
for the faint-hearted.
Japan makes huge change in military policy
Japan has experienced its biggest anti-war protests in over 50 years
as politicians set about changing the country's stance on fighting
overseas. The Japanese parliament has passed a law that permits the
country's armed forces to fight overseas for the first time since the
end of World War II, but only under certain conditions.
It has been given the name of "collective self-defence" the law
change allows actual combat under certain conditions. Outside
parliament, protestors came together in a last effort to stop the law
being passed. Tens of thousands of protestors have been fighting the
huge change in military policy for some time.
All Blacks beat Argentina in RWC
The All Blacks have started their defence of the World Cup with a
hard fought 26-16 victory over Argentina. The All Blacks were made to
work hard for the victory, eventually pulling away in the final 20
minutes.
Both captain Richie McCaw and centre Conrad Smith were sin-binned in
the first half as the Pumas went to the break with a 13-12 lead.
However, the All Blacks played better in the second half, scoring two
tries to kill off the game. Halfback Aaron Smith and Sam Cane were the
scorers for the All Blacks.
A Rugby World Cup record crowd of over 89,000 fans attended the game
at the Wembley Stadium, breaking the previous record of under 83,000 at
the 2003 finals.
