Ranil in Japan
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe arrived in Japan yesterday (3) on
his first official visit to the country after assuming office. He was
accompanied by Minister of Technology, Technology Education and
Employment, Susil Premajayntha, and officials.
Wickremesinghe was welcomed at the Kansai Airport by Kansai's
Japanese Ambassador Akira Mira, Japanese Ambassador in Sri Lanka Konachi
Suganuma, Sri Lanka's Ambassador in Japan Prof. Dammika Ganganath
Dissanayake, and other officials.
The Prime Minister will hold bilateral discussions with his Japanese
counterpart Shinzo Abe this evening, followed by a second round of talks
on Tuesday (06), in Tokyo.
Wickremesinghe is due to address the Science and Technology
Convention in Kyoto today and will leave for the capital, Tokyo, this
evening.
Wickremesinghe will be the third leader to address the Japanese
Parliament, after US President Barack Obama and Indian Prime Minister
Narendra Modi.
Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and Foreign Minister Mangala
Samaraweera will join the Sri Lankan delegation in Tokyo. |
