Petit Futé Sri Lanka
The
latest edition of Petit Futé a comprehensive travel guide to Sri Lanka
in French was officially launched recently at the Kingsbury. The Manager
of the guide book Roxane Lamouille said how pleased they were to launch
this latest edition of Petit Futé Sri Lanka for the French speaking
markets not only in France but also in Belgium, Luxenbourg, Switzerland,
Canada and the Indian Ocean.
The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, Rohantha
Athukorale was the chief guest at this occasion and he was formally
presented with the first copy.
In his address Rohantha Athukorale emphasised the importance of how
Sri Lanka tourism must veer away from the traditional media advertising
and concentrate on media online advertising.
A large number of tourists in France carry a guide book and the
Tourism Bureau partnered Petit Futé on the Sri Lankan edition because
they launched the pioneering digital travel guide book, which meant that
French tourists have access to the edition free of charge on the
website.
Jean Paul Labourdette and Dominique Auzias have to be congratulated
for compiling a detailed study of Sri Lanka - the country's geography,
climate, history, economy, population, religion and beliefs, languages,
way of life, festivities, food, transportation, tourist information,
hotels, restaurants, cafes, currency, customs and visa, Sinhala and
Tamil language conversation exchanges, the beaches and mountains of Sri
Lanka, rice fields, tea plantations and wildlife sanctuaries. All packed
into 385 pages. Amazing!
