S Thomas' College had it easy against their traditional rival Royal
College as they secured two wins in the first leg of their annual
inter-school water-polo contest held at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming
complex yesterday.
The Thomians defeated Royal in the Under-19 event by 11-6 in the
evening after the junior game in the afternoon.
The Royalists also suffered an 8-6 loss in the Under-15 event which
was played prior to the Under-19 event.
The Thomians played a controlled game and never let Royal dictate
terms right throughout the contests although there was some tantalizing
moments for the losers.
The strong point for the Thomians was that they were more energetic
and quicker in attack while in defence they proved solid.
It was not a day meant for Royal who will have plenty of homework to
do before the second leg contests that are scheduled to be worked off
next week at the same venue. |
