Former Sri Lanka Test captain Bandula Warnapura spearheaded a cricket coaching and developing project held at Dharmaraja College, Kandy last Sunday conducted under the Olcott Schools Development programme.

The project also covers Ananda, Nalanda, Maliyadeva, Rahula, Dharmasoka, Mahinda and Dharmapala and comes under the direction of Warnapura who is now the Regional Development Manager of Cricket for Asia based in Dubai.

The programme covered areas such as qualities of a player, consistency, commitment, confidence, focus, match preparation, talent identification, physical fitness, team selection and the ultimate goal of a school cricketer. It was conducted for players between Under-13 to 19 together with their parents, coaches, MICs and OBAs in order to create awareness among all stakeholders to understand the objective of indulging in cricket as a schoolboy. The programme was coordinated by Udaya Yatawara, former cricket star of Dharmaraja College.
