Warnapura spearheads school cricket project

Former Sri Lanka Test captain Bandula Warnapura spearheaded a cricket
coaching and developing project held at Dharmaraja College, Kandy last
Sunday conducted under the Olcott Schools Development programme.
The project also covers Ananda, Nalanda, Maliyadeva, Rahula,
Dharmasoka, Mahinda and Dharmapala and comes under the direction of
Warnapura who is now the Regional Development Manager of Cricket for
Asia based in Dubai.
The programme covered areas such as qualities of a player,
consistency, commitment, confidence, focus, match preparation, talent
identification, physical fitness, team selection and the ultimate goal
of a school cricketer. It was conducted for players between Under-13 to
19 together with their parents, coaches, MICs and OBAs in order to
create awareness among all stakeholders to understand the objective of
indulging in cricket as a schoolboy. The programme was coordinated by
Udaya Yatawara, former cricket star of Dharmaraja College.
