New sport Unifight holds demonstration and workshop
A new sport called Unifight was successfully demonstrated at a
workshop organized by the Sri Lanka Federation for Unifight and the
Department of Sports in the Eastern Province on September 19 and 20 at
the Beach Park, Trincomalee with the participation of 150 athletes of
sports clubs and schools.
Athletes from Trincomalee, Kantalai, Seruwila, Muttur, Kinniya and
Gomarankadawala participated in a new experience.
The Unifight exhibition event was conducted by Navy athletes and the
awarding of certificates for successful participants was conducted by
the Director of the Department of Sports, Eastern Province N.Mathivannan,
Chairman, Sri Lanka Federation for Unifight, Commander Y.N. Jayaratne
and the Secretary, founder and promoter SriLanka Federation for Unifight
Uditha Peiris.
The event was graced by Minister of Road Development, Lands and Land
Development, Skills and Manpower Development and Water Supply of the
Eastern Province, Ariyawathi Galappaththi as the Chief Guest and
Secretary, Ministry of Road Development, Eastern Province J.J.
Muralitharan.
