Australia down Wales 15-6

Australia produced a spirited performance despite being reduced to 13 players at one stage in the second half to beat Wales 15-6 in their Rugby World Cup match yesterday.

Trailing 6-12 in the second half Wales had nearly a quarter of an hour to break through the Australian defence but failed miserably and all they could do was run into opposing players feet away from scoring.

Even with Australia losing two players two yellow cards, the Wales team could not push through with 10 minutes of play left.

But Australia held on well and put the issue beyond doubt with a penalty to make it 15-6 five minutes before the end.
