Sri Lanka to benefit from USD 70 million
Sri Lanka will be one of the beneficiaries of a 70 million US dollar
fund set aside by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to help Test
playing nations sustain what they call “a home programme of Test
cricket” through to 2023. The money will be available from next year.
India, Australia and England will not be entitled to the Test funds.
But at the same time all ten Test playing nations can stake their
claims for double the amount in prize money for the champion team of
each year which will be increased from 500,000 US dollars to 1million US
dollars.
It means the number one ranked Test team at the cut-off date of April
1, 2016 will become the first winner of the snowballed prize money. |
