Air China to operate Beijing-Colombo service

Air China will launch a Beijing-Colombo service on October 27 amidst increasing travel from China to Sri Lanka. The service will give passengers easy access to the island.

China is Sri Lanka's second largest trading partner, source of imports and the fastest growing source of travellers.

Around 12,000 Chinese travellers visited Sri Lanka up to May this year, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau's statistics reveal.

The forthcoming Beijing-Colombo service is expected to open up more travel opportunities for business and leisure travellers from the Northern and Northeastern parts of China.

Sri Lanka forms an important part of the "21st Century Silk Road on the Sea." The new route is also one of Air China's most important moves in 2015 to cement its global presence with its hub in Beijing and expand its route network serving South and Southeast Asia.

Air China will operate to Colombo three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
