'Dhairya Maatha' at Punchi Theatre

'Dhairya Maatha' the stage play produced by Ranjith Wijenayake will go on boards at the Namel Malani Punchi Theatre in Borella, on October 28.

An adaptation based on the 'Mother Courage and Her Children' of great dramatist Bertolt Brecht that had been translated into English by John Willet, then into Sinhala by Ranjith Wijenayake himself, is about a tragic story of a woman and her three children who try to survive the war while gaining from it, unsuccessfully.

'Mother Courage and Her Children' is considered the greatest play script of the 20th century by some critics and greatest anti-war play by many, has also been acclaimed as the best example of Epic theatre and the techniques peculiar to it.

The cast comprises Anushka Withanage, Charith Senanayake, Vindya Jayasinghe and others. Music is composed by Nadeeka Weligodapola and choreography by Professor Lionel Bentharage.
