A Royal ride over sulking Thomians

Royal College won the T Noel Fernando Trophy after cruising to a 48
points to four victory over S. Thomas' College in their annual Regatta
on the waters of the Beira Lake in Colombo yesterday.

The Royalists out-rowed last year's winners by the huge margin after
losing only the B Pair event to the Mount Lavinia School on a rainy day.
The Royalists won the A Scull, B Scull, A Pair which were the first
three events of the day accumulating 16 points before S Thomas' College
won the B Pair event to reduce the deficit to 16-4.
But the Royalists overcame the hiccup and dominated the Beira Lake
winning all four events - A Double Scull, B Double Scull, B Four and the
centerpiece prestigious Boat Race to bag the Regatta for the 18th
occasion over the past 46 years.
Last year's winner S Thomas' have won the Regatta on 23 occasions
with three consecutive victories from 2012 to 2014.
