One of Sri Lankas most celebrated drivers, Ashan Silva had to face
stiff opposition from Darin Weerasinghe in the fastest event of the day,
the SLGT Cars upto 3500cc event, but was placed second in the first race
and went on to win race Two, to maintain his supremacy.
Race One saw Darin Weerasinghe winning ahead of Ashan while former
national champion Pasindu Peiris and Ushan Perera were closely following
in the third and fourth positions respectively.
Ashan grabbed his honours back in the second race of the same
category while Janaka Dias won the second place with Darin and Ushan
Perera in third and fourth positions respectively.
Daniel booked two podium finishes when he showed his talents on two
wheelers in the STD/MOD Motor Cycles up to 600cc event and the STD/MOD
Motor Cycles - Over 175cc up to 250cc event.
His outstanding performance also earned him the best riders award.
The only female driver of the day, Shehara Jayawardena kept their
familys name flying when she drove her vehicle to win the Group SL S
Specials up to 1350cc event ahead of second placed S.A. Duminda and
Imran Yakoob who came in third.
Another highlight of the day, female rider Hansika Abeysinghe showed
that she is on par with seasoned male drivers when she went on to win
the Group O Motor Cycles Over 125cc upto 160cc event. Nikila Pathirage
and Vinula Pathirage finished second and third respectively.
The final leg of the SEAT-SLADA championship saw a host of talented
drivers and riders putting their abilities and machines to the extremes
in 21 motorcycle and motor car events while Team CEAT bagged major
honours, becoming the team champions at the Rotherham Circuit.
