South Asia Textile Industries in healthcare initiative
South Asia Textile Industries Lanka and the Inner Wheel Club of
Colombo West, a Rotary International affiliate, partnered in a joint
healthcare initiative for the people in the Gampaha district, which
involved the building of a walking exercise track for elders and the
donation of dry rations to 150 pregnant mothers. Both projects were
recently completed at the Pugoda Central Dispensary.

A leading weft knit fabric manufacturer for global brands, South Asia
Textile Industries Lanka aided the Inner Wheel Club in building a
100-metre-long walking track and a children's park at the same medical
clinic, close to its Pugoda factory.
President, Inner Wheel Club of Colombo West, Kumudini Kulasinghe
said, "Helping his neighbours must have been on Dorai's mind when he
helped the women's hospital, which is next door to the factory, with the
company donating an ECG machine."
Ms. Kulasinghe said that the Inner Wheel Club teamed up with South
Asia Textile Industries Lanka to distribute dry rations comprising
healthy food for a whole month to150 pregnant mothers.
"Not only does it save them money, but it also helps them maintain a
healthy pregnancy. The walking exercise track, which we opened today, is
for the benefit of elders and pregnant mothers who attend the clinic for
free check-ups. This is useful to them to maintain a healthy life
lifestyle reducing the intake of unnecessary drugs, which could be
harmful," she said.
CEO, South Asia Textile Industries Lanka, Prithiv S. Dorai also
spoke.
