Maliban clinches National Quality Award

Maliban Biscuit Manufactories Limited received the Sri Lanka National Quality Award (NQA) in the large scale-manufacturing category from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) for the third time and is the first company in the food manufacturing industry to be recognised with such an award. As Sri Lanka's premier biscuit manufacturer, Maliban Biscuit Manufactories Limited first won the award in 1996 and again in 2010, which has demonstrated the company's consistency and commitment to quality.

The NQA is an annual award to recognise Sri Lankan companies for performance excellence. First implemented in 1995, award winners are selected on the criteria used in the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Awards (MBNQA) of the USA.

The awards promote awareness in quality as an increasingly important tool in enhancing competitiveness, understanding the factors that contribute to performance excellence and encourages companies to embrace improvement models.
